数回聴いていくうちに、曲の完成度の高さとボーカルの加藤沙果菜さんの表現力豊かな歌声に引き込まれました。全ての曲の歌詞を彼女が書いていますが、その詩もとても印象的で耳に残ります。何度聴いても飽きない「CACALIA」は、ボーカル入りのアルバム中では、今年のマイベストです。

ウザワ式の一斉訳
現在の授業のメインで大きな成果を上げている「一斉訳〜暗記〜単語テスト」は、小学生から大学受験生まで、ウザワの授業を受講している生徒さんには全員に受けてもらっています。
潜在的な英語力が付くだけでなく、生徒の中でも一番人気があるのもこの一斉です。
そして約４年前から始まって、常に進化してきたこの一斉訳もほぼ完成形に近づいてきました。あとは講師の指導技術を上げていくだけでしょう。
助手をしてくれている大学生の子たちも随分と慣れてきたので、来年１月より中１〜大学受験生クラスの一斉訳で使用している教材を一新します。
●大学受験生：東京大学入試過去問題より
●中２〜高１：Environmental Issuesより
●中１：The Story of Englishより
一流大学入試問題や大学の講義で使用されている教材ばかりです。難しい分、上手くやらないとストレスになり逆効果になってしまいますので、講師の技量が問われます。
でも、今以上に力を付けてもらいたいので、こちらも頑張りますので、皆さんもついてきて下さいね。

Career Planning
This month, some of the second grade students at my junior high school will go out and get some job experience with businesses in the local area. It sounds very interesting and a great idea. Last year the students had a lot of fun. They worked in many different places from sushi restaurants and flower shops to kindergartens and fire stations. Their pictures looked really fascinating. I could see a different side to some of the student’s characters. Most of them became much more mature when they went out to work.
My secondary school in England didn’t have any work experience events. So unless we got part time or summer jobs, then we would never get any work experience. Of course, students shouldn’t need to work for money, but they need to work a little to get an experience of what working is like. I think it is very odd that I was taught many things but not how to choose the right job for me. How can people make the right choice if they don’t know what they are choosing? If students come out of school with few ideas about what job they want, they might take the first job that someone offers them. The job chooses them, instead of them choosing the job. In some cases the job you choose first can have a big effect on the rest of your life. One of my friends joined a bank after school. He stayed with them for 10 years and then decided that he didn’t enjoy banking. He started his own gardening company and enjoyed it very much. He didn’t make so much money, but he said that he was happy with his choice. He had always been interested in gardening, but he had never thought he could make it his job.
When I was at university, I was invited to join a career services program. They tried to help me and other students decide what kind of jobs we would like to do. First they made me fill out a questionnaire to find out more about my character. They had questions like “Do you enjoy working outdoors?”, “Do you enjoy working in a small team?”, “Do you work well under pressure?, “Can you work to deadlines?”, “Do you prefer making plans or following plans?” and so on. After we finished the questionnaire they gave us suggestions about what kind of careers we might be interested in. I was given a list that included being an accountant, a teacher, a civil servant and a retail manager. Then they asked us to research the jobs ourselves. After we had researched the jobs, they suggested that we try to get one or two days work experience of those jobs so that we could make a decision using knowledge and our own experience. It was difficult for me to get work experience, so instead I spoke to a few of my father’s friends who worked in those kinds of jobs. After talking to them I thought that I would enjoy being a civil servant or a teacher best. In the end, I think it was very useful, because I now had a career goal. Some of my other friends wanted to do jobs like being a doctor or a computer programmer. The career service told them that they should start planning their career now. They recommended that they should get hobbies connected to their future careers so they could develop knowledge and interest in it. We wrote step by step plans of how we could get experience and skills that would help us get those jobs after university.
If we don’t know what we enjoy doing, then it is difficult to plan what kind of job you want to do. So I think careers services can be very helpful if they are around. If you are at university now, you may have access to a careers service. I really recommend that you visit it and read the material they have. If you don’t know what you want to do now, or you’re not at university, then try some online quizzes or questionnaires that can give you ideas of what kind of jobs you can start to research. Don’t let your job choose you, choose your job and you life!

４級：２名（中１、中２）
５級：１名（小６）
３級以上の合格者は１６日(日)に二次試験があります。
十分に練習をしたので、全員合格できるでしょう。

本部見学＆受験生クラス
先月３０日(木)に東京本部の授業見学をしてきました。今回の目的は、大学受験生クラスを拝見させて頂くためです。
昨年から本格的に始められたクラスですが、今までにない効果が出ていて、昨年は全員が第一志望の大学に合格できたそうです。今年は更にレヴェルアップした内容になっているので、昨年以上の結果が出ることが予想されます。
最初の1時間半は10名を越える人数による一斉授業です。

��ネイティヴの読み上げによる英文を聴いてのQ&A
�て餔彭戮旅發げ甬醋簑�
�ゾ綉�の� 銑�からの単語テスト(30語くらい)
��TOEFL単語集からの単語テスト(25語くらい)
その後は、個別に過去問題を直して普通の授業スケジュールをこなします。
5時から始まって終了は9時くらいで、それぞれがもう1曜日授業を受けているので、最低でも週7時間受講していることになります。これだけのレヴェルの教材をこれだけの時間やれば、他のどこでも付けることが出来ない英語力が身に付くのは当たり前ですね。
うちの教室でも1月1から開始しようかと思っています。現在高校2年生が5名ですが、出来る限り人数が多い方が良いので、1年生も入ってもらうかもしれません。詳細は別途お知らせします。

中１もそろそろ自力で暗記を！
ウザワ式では、中学生、高校生は「一斉暗記」の他に1対1での暗記、そして慣れてきたら、完全に一人での暗記を行っています。
入会したばかりの生徒と中学1年生は、訳した英文を全て一人で暗記するのは難しいので、講師と一緒に暗記をしますが、いつまでもこれでは、本当の英語力は付きません。ですから、徐々に一人立ちできるようにしていきます。
「Little Women」が終わって「Daddy Long Legs」に入った中1も、そろそろ学校の教科書のように、意識しての暗記に入ります。もちろん、いきなり全文というわけにはいかないので、まずは2,3行から、それも、一人で暗記の出来る読みにしてからです。10年以上指導してきている私なら、この判断も簡単ですが、助手の大学生には難しいので、直接私が行っています。この判断を誤ると大変で、たかが2,3行とはいえ下手をすると、30分近くかかってしまうので要注意です。
やがて一人立ちして、中学3年生になった頃には、今とは比較にならない程の英語力が付いていることを実感できるでしょう。その前に止めないで下さいね。
